The Office of Management and Budget at the White House indicated that the proposed budget would increase defense spending by 13% compared to the levels set in 2025, and increase homeland security spending by nearly 65%, while non-defense discretionary spending would be cut by 23%, reaching the lowest level since 2017. In addition, the White House proposed a budget of $1.7 trillion for the fiscal year 2026, a decrease of 7.6% from the previous year.
